Stretch the calf muscle using this simple technique against the wall. It’s convenient and extremely easy to do. Have you been complaining of calf tightness or pain? Does your work involve prolonged standing on hard surfaces? Well this is an extremely effective stretch to loosen up the calf. It is important to remember that repetition is the key. The stretch must be done at least 3 times per day to be effective.

Stretch the calf muscle by following the steps below:

stretch the calf muscle

  1. Start with putting your foot against the wall and the heel on the floor with your knees straight.
  2. Gently bring the hip closer to the wall while the knee is straight.
  3. Hold for 30 seconds.
  4. Then slowly bend your knee slightly, until you feel the stretch move lower on the calf.
  5. Hold 30 seconds.
  6. Switch legs, repeating twice on each side.

It is important to note that if calf pain still continues, it may be an indication of an injury. If it hasn’t healed in 3 weeks, it won’t heal by itself. It is important to see a Physiotherapist who can assess the injury. They can best treat it by using hands on techniques and strengthening exercises.
